Apparently the Bite has started and I think I may just try my hand at them... Only problem is I am not sure where to launch and have my best shot at a WFO bite?

They are thick in Huntington right now but where would I launch?

Got another option in SM Bay to launch out of Redondo and look for the birds.

I keep eye-balling the santa ana river launch. Watch out for land mines when you wheel through the dog beach!

Tried out of Redondo today for nada. Paddled up to Manhattan Beach pier and only found 1 bird pile about 2 miles out but they were on Dolphins.

The Newport Pier does not pick up a south swell. It is usually very small all summer.

as i posted in the other thread, for those that are trying this week, i got some today on the freelance. They weren't actually on the surface by the time we got to the area, instead they were about 10-30 feet off the bottom, drop/let the jig sink all the way down if you don't see any on top :jig: especially if you meter a suspended bait ball in the area.

WIND was horrible yesterday! I did launch I saw a ton of bait, and tons of birds but chasing them yesterday proved too much for me. A Sea gull took my magic swimmer and I had to unhook him, which was cool the bird pecked once then was chill while I took the hook out and he just hung out next to me on the water for a while, I wish I had a fish to give him. ha ha

I did notice some huge marks on the bottom always right around a huge chunk of bait. But I wasn't getting any bites on plastic, crocodile, or jigs.

On the water report: No cuda lol.
Went up to Newport pier, nada. Back to the CDM kelp, a few bass, wind picked up and now chilling in the harbor. Everyone i spoke to says Huntington for cuda, at least that's where all the boats are going .
