Tried fishing the bay last night to take advantage of the high tide. Could not get on the water until after 8PM. Fished plastics on light line around the ferry landing and did not catch or meter anything. Nice to be on the water but should have gotten there for the sundown bite. I thought I was going to nail them! Just a heads up for anyone else thinking of fishing that area. Startig to think I really suck at fishing! :(

Don't give up on the night fishing. Some nights are way better than the best days. You just have to have the right conditions. Try launching out of Shelter for the night bite. I always liked the sides of the channel at night.

Wow, great haul on the corvina and croakers. The only fish I metered were out in 40 ft of water and suspended. I was fishing larger MC baits hoping for some aggressive bass or halibut. I've seen big flatties taken around there years past. This was not my night though. The bay is usually a lot better to me than this one. I won't give up but I'll aim for shelter island next time and fish closer to twilight or dawn. Thanks for the tips guys.

I've been wanting to launch there instead of tidelands to fish the main channel, to avoid the long paddle, but not sure where to park? Do you try to find parking right there by all the restaurants? It's ok to launch right next to the pier? Thanks

For the parking info. I drove by there last week and wasn't sure whether I'd get towed if I parked in the Ferry Landing Lot. Seems like Coronado town likes to limit parking options for non-residents, as I note several permit-only and metered areas along the street running in front of the ferry landing, especially by the little "pocket parks" further west, and as Jim Sammons noted earlier, they've limited the parking hours at Tidelands as well.
