Here's some more of what we put up with at the CP....The shark is a seven gill...the same kind and about the same size that took a nip at the diver last week. The seal activists/militant vegans were having a big protest on Saturday but the shark and this incident took all the wind out of their sails...:) The shark head was placed on a table and kids and tourists played with it all day.....:sifone:

I wonder if filming that seal playfully swimming around you is considered harassment in some circles? Or maybe you just got that guy's blessing to keep doing what you have been doing.

As for the "lady" in orange, all I can say is Wow! Simply amazing.

Great work as usual Tony.

David aka "Ralph the Halibut" shot this video. He's a professional spear fisherman and a key player in the fight against the eco-creeps.....
The seal activists do consider this "harassment" and keep trying to get any diver or swimmer that is approached by seals hit with a fine....These people are nut cases....

Great footage. She does more to hurt her cause in 10 minutes than she could possibly do for it in a week. The guys all acted very cool, calm and professional.

Tony, great post. Ethan is one cool, calm, and collected individual...don't know how he does it...:notworthy:

They are some serious psychologically imbalanced individuals. I have now seen the full spectrum, from the lady at an MLPA meeting crying because a seal got sketched and swam in the water, to this bimbo.

Excellent job, great advice to put his hands behind his back, she was just trying to provoke him.

As they say, you can take the bitch out of the trailer, but you can't take the trailer out of the bitch...

Well done...:you_rock:

Oh that was great.

If only there was a way to get rid of the nuts and seals at the pool, it would make for a bitchin launch point.

The irony here is amazing. The eco-chick in orange is supposed to be the conservationist. It was my understanding that a conservationist loves, understands and appreciates nature. Now let me ask the million dollar question.

With the above definition of a conservationist can she be called one, when she doesn't know the difference between a shark and a fish!

The spearos in this video are infinitely more of conservationist that this lady is.

It is clear that she is ignorant, not only in class identification but as such things as sustainable take. These people somehow believe that any take will wipe out an entire species. Well maybe they are aren't that ignorant, but that is what they've been fed. The last point here is that she was not rational and did not come up with any valid arguments to why the spearos should be there are possess the shark. In fact wildly screaming obscenities hurts the seals ears and corrupts them.

hah Great Job! That made my morning.

I'm confused about the fish thing though. I thought "fish" was just an animal type. i.e. mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish ... Then shark would be the next level of specification, like croaker, tuna, etc... So what does that shark is not a fish stuff mean?

Ok guys now you got me confused .... Are you saying that a shark is NOT a fish???? What species is it then ????? I would have left the shark do what sharks do for a while.. Let her see nature at work shark eat seal, shark fat. Shark bring friends in week or two seal move to better nighborhood. nature at its best.

Strictly speaking from scientific taxonomy, sharks are not fish, but only because there really isn't a single scientific group called "fish"... sharks are in their own class because they are not bony fish, like WSB or YT.

However, commonly accepted definitions of the word "fish" includes anything that has gills, swims in water, and is generally cold blooded, which does include sharks... and incidentally includes some other "oddities" like some gilled salamanders.

In school, I was always taught that sharks ARE fish... whales/dolphins are not (because they breath air and are warm blooded)... but there are certain species of sharks and tunas that are able to maintain a core temperature that is higher than the surrounding water (e.g. they're warm blooded).

The Phylum Chordata includes all animals with backbones (aka vertebrates), but that's where the classification between "shark" and "bony fish" diverge... so that's a pretty fundamental difference.

Here's our friend the Tax Man:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Chondrichthyes (aka Cartilagenous fish... e.g. sharks, skates, rays, etc)
Subclass: Elasmobranchii
Order: Lamniformes
Family: Lamnidae
Genus: Carcharodon
Species: C. carcharias

Here's our friend the WSB:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Osteichthyes (aka bony fish... e.g. tuna, rockfish, bass, etc)
Subclass: Actinopterygii
Order: Perciformes
Family: Sciaenidae
Genus: Atractoscion
Species: A. nobilis

Clear as mud right? In the end, who really cares what it is? That lady was clearly off her rocker, and you can't reason with people in that state.

You can't out-crazy a real crazy-person.

C'mon, we all know sharks are fish, with the biggest fish in the world being the whale shark.

Geeemminy, what a potty mouth. Think of all the children that were probably within ears shot of that tirade. Nice example "LADY IN ORANGE". Although one really couldn't call her a lady. TP
