View Full Version : Sign Up for the 9th annual Steve Moyer Memorial
Jim Sammons LJKF
07-11-2011, 07:46 AM
All the information and sign up forms are now up for the 9th annual Steve Moyer Memorial kayak fishing tournament for the American Cancer Society. Once again this year we will be giving a portion of the proceeds to a kayak angler in need. Joel Lotilla is still in a battle for his life against cancer and has been out of work for the past year. We are going to help him out again this year.
We ask this every year but PLEASE get signed up early so we can plan accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

We often get requests by people wanting to donate additional funds for the cause as well as people just donating but not entering. We have added a button just for that. You can donate any amount you wish with that button, just plug in the amount you wish to contribute.

Looking forward to it again Jim.
BTW, the date says September 11 - that's a Sunday.
Traditionally, it's always been on a Saturday, I believe.
Just checking to be sure the date is correct, since last year
it was also on September 11.
Jim - could you confirm its Sunday the 11th?

It is only about ten minutes away and it gives us a much bigger area away from the beach crowds. Tons of parking too.

You guys gonna try having a spearo division this year. I know that you didn't have enough people to join it last year, but I think I can round some guys up. I'm not sure if I can make it yet because of work, but will do my best if there is a division for us. I won this toury a few years ago and for a new spearo it was something I'll never forget! The entrant list is now updated on my site. So far only 28 entrants, that is pretty damn bad for a tournament that normally draws 150-200 people.
If you have entered but do not see your name on the list please contact me so I can investigate.
I am on the road again for a week, leaving Wednesday, and will update again when I return.

Most of you know how dear to my heart this tournament is. I've been doing a lot of work as of late and have some killer raffle items. We also are doing the Carnitas Taco Bar with Halibut Ceviche.
I'm still looking for a 5th place sponsor for $150 cash.
Hobie just donated a quest kayak.
Paul Elder just sent this picture of the art which is getting close to being finished. You don't want to miss this event! Good cause and a good day on the water for only $50...You will go home hungry and happy! I promise!:cheers1::cheers1::cheers1::cheers1::cheer s1::cheers1::cheers1::cheers1:

I just started fishing again last summer and got my kayak in October and spent a ton of time on it before I deployed...I get back a couple days before the tournament, and luckily my wife is down to let me go to the tournament after being gone for seven months...of course it may just be that she wants to be able to record me getting worked by the waves on my way out through the surf for the first time...yeah that's probably it...
