Should have looked into trips a month ago; BFT were WFO.
I've done 2 over nighters (blanked on one, 3 BFT on the other) and a 2 dayer (6 YFT, 1BFT, 1 dodo, and a ray yellowtail) this year.
Numbers on the tuna are dwindling after one of the most epic BFT runs in decades. If you're dead set on going, I would look at a 1.5 dayer at minimum. The overnighters can't go far enough (140-160 miles!) to get you in the area where the tuna are 'kind of biting'.
2 dayer or better yet, 2.5 dayer+ would be ideal right now.
I'm charter master for a 2.5 dayer coming up this weekend. I'll report back when I return. Hopefully this coming warming trend will push the warmer waters up the line along with the fish....

Actually it bit for a good amount of time this year. Like he said, one of the most epic BFT years in a while.
YT are biting now though so who knows, always a chance at November YFT....

No more tuna but man there is an epic tail bite out there. I went last week and it was honestly every cast on everything for as long as you wanted. Millions of yellows out there.

Save your money for a mothership trip, its going to cost the same and you'll enjoy the mothership trip more than a tuna trip. I've done both so I'm speaking from experience.

My friend who is a deckhand told me the YFT are showing up in large numbers 120 miles out from San Diego. Check the online reports from the SD fleet.
