I know it East of Dume and on into the bay, but then again I've fished it for 20 years. Most of my favorite spots are hardly fished by kayakers, or spots you can't even reach by Kayak. There are people that know it better. Freddie, Robert, Jimbo, etc... Good friends!! Years of experience there, and I still consistently see them out there.

Back on topic..

As to hiring kayak guides I'd say go to LJ and hire Josh. He can teach you more then just spots, he can teach you basic principles, and give you info that you can apply anywhere. The popular Kayak spots are easy to find up there since the same few guys are always on them. Info Josh can teach you on technique on the other hand is extremely valuable, definitely applies to Malibu, and it will get you fish there when others can't catch them.

After comparing notes with Josh a few years back, I completely changed my approach to fishing certain areas at both Rocky and the BU. If I was going to give someone money to fish with them, I'd definately book him.

You're not going to find much info online. I remember back in the day before the web we used to jokingly call WON "week old news' when it came to what they'd publish about Malibu. Now online it's mostly "weak old news", where people purposely post misinformation about when and where they fished combined with photos that are weeks if not months old. Fun to look at but not much of value there.

When you see a report with some big fish in it always check the surf conditions before you decide to go. Some guys like to post fake reports when they know the launches are about to get hammered by big swell. They then go watch as people loose their gear in the big surf. They think it's funny, I think it's lame, a difference of opinion :D

I'd say learn how to fish for what you want to catch, then just fish it much as you can. Nothing like figuring things out for yourself and finding your own fish.

Josh told me the exact same thing. Use the tools he gave me over here at Malibu. I was just kinda in the blind on where to start as far as the sea bass are concerned. I would really like to spend some more time with him, but the drive really hammers me. Im a commercial driver , and average 1200 miles a week. The last thing I want to do is, drive 250 more in my personel vehicle. I really appreciate all the responses. I have fishing experience, but im a rookie with the yak. Of course lots to learn about fishing from kayak. I think im missing a few small elements , to put the whole package together. Maybe someone like to fish together , so I can get a little more confidence and put the whole package together. Im in burbank , so if anyone is interested Pm. Thanks. Thanks JIm for feedback.:D
