Well I can finally post up a fishing report.:luxhello: After fishing from my kayak for just under a year I final caught something.

Got to Dana Point at 6 this morning straight to the bait barge. I picked up some Sardines. Then it was time to start dragging them around as usual but today I actually caught something other then Lizard fish. the bigger halibut is only 23 inches but after the fight he put up I can't wait to hang into a bigger model

Way to go!! Try going to the kelp beds 3/4 mile
north of the marina for bass and halibuts. Or,
south along the shore line for calicos. good luck.

Good job on the hali. You gotta crawl before you walk!!!!

A little advise.............When measuring hali's try your best to measure them on a flat surface and if possible put the tape measure under the hali's body. A 23" legal hali can be a 21 illegal hali when the DFG measures it.

Damn it I thought it was 24 inches so I released all 3 of them:ack2: I could have had fresh halibut for dinner

That's not a bad rule to follow.

Good job! :luxhello: The anticipation and (hopefully) catch of a fish never gets old, it just grows. One suggestion; While nothing beats time on the water, if you can make it to Fred Hall, spend the time. Take advantage of the GREAT seminars that guys like Kevin (Sea Samurai) and others will be conducting. Bring a note pad or something - TOO MUCH info to try to remember.

Good job on your first non-lizards. I too would suggest leaving the harbor. Besides north and south try the Pipe.
