after that i showed him pics of my surf fishing adventures and catching leopards, shovels, rays, hali's and all those fish and he wanted to get into it. well its been slow so we decided to get him a good spinning set up and get on some rays in the bay.
first outting was hopeless, second or third i kept getting hits, landed 2, biggest was 43" (pictured) and his went untouched. so we kept at it and after a couple trips we got it dialed in and were getting hit right off the bat... but no hook ups. even though we started late that night i was sure he'd finally get his, and he did. a 37 incher on a spinner and 17lb mono. he borrowed that rod from me so he'd have a better chance at hooking up with two rods, so his has still gone fishless. we have to break that curse.
