California Conservationist Unfairly Attacked for Legal Hunting Activities
Take action to keep one of the sportfishing community's strongest supporters in office
Dan Richards, president of the California Fish and Game Commission and an avid angler, hunter and friend to sportsmen and women, is being unfairly attacked by extreme environmental and animal rights organizations for taking part in a legal hunt in Idaho. While hunting cougars may not be licensed in California, it is both legal and well-managed in Idaho.
But what is the real issue here? The organizations leading the charge against Richards have a much broader agenda. Richards has consistently been a voice of reason throughout the flawed Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) initiative, a controversial program that threatens sportfishing in California, and the businesses and 20,000 jobs that depend on it, by unnecessarily closing large areas of the ocean to recreational fishing. If successful in their efforts to remove Richards from the commission, these anti-fishing groups will be one step closer to shutting anglers out of more of California's best fishing spots.
These anti-fishing and hunting organizations initially pressured Richards to resign from his post as Fish and Game Commissioner. Now that he had rightly refused to yield to this pressure, legislative action is being considered to forcibly remove him from the commission.
All that is needed to remove Richards from the commission is a simple majority vote by California's state legislature – so your help is needed now!
KeepAmericaFishing™ encourages all California sportsmen and women to send a letter to their state senate and assembly members expressing support for Commissioner Dan Richards and urging legislators to oppose any measure that would remove Richards from the commission.

Unbelievable that legislative action is being considered to try to remove a straight shooter line Dan Richards, while a dirtbag like Michael Sutton remains on the Commission. Our legislators continue to ignore his lies, omissions, conflicts of interest and ties to the Monterey bay Aquarium and Packard Foundation.

Added a couple paragraphs, took it easy on them...:boxing_smiley:
Here is what I added:
This was supposed to have been about the Clean Water Act from Day 1, but it seems a bigger agenda is on hand. I have witnessed first hand the animosity directed towards Mr. Richards for not "following the money trail"...it is astounding and incredulous to watch and read how 'esteemed' members of various boards and task forces ignore proven scientific data and alternative ways to boost our oceans' fish population while failing to address water pollution and runoff issues.
* Case in point the Laguna Beach sewer overflow from a past storm, where gallons upon gallons of untreated sewage waste flowed to the Pacific, in Laguna Beach, an area deemed 'overfished' and part of the MLPA now closed to fishing.
Prosecute the minnows while the sharks roam free...
I am proud to have Mr. Dan Richards represent my interests, and the interests of my son, instead of relying upon those who hide behind false interests.
Thanks everyone. Great comments!
I understand some on the legislature who are doing the bidding of HSUS and the extreme enviro groups are getting nervous. Keep 'em coming. Richards asks the tough questions. He listens to our point of view. He's one of us. Thanks for backing him.

BEN HUESO BLASTS RICHARDS WITH RESIGNATION DEMAND LETTER
By Paul Lebowitz
WON staff writer
Earlier today Paola Avila, spokeswoman for California state assemblyman Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that she had nothing to report regarding action contemplated against Fish and Game Commission president Dan Richards. Nothing would likely be done or announced "for a couple weeks."
A letter obtained by WON at 3:30 pm puts the lie to that claim. The demand for Richards' resignation is signed by 39 members of the assembly, two short of a bare majority. It's been in the works for a while.

Anyone living or working in the 79th District should email Ben Hueso's office to express displeasure at his actions against our representative Dan Richards.
http://lcmspubcontact.lc.ca.gov/PublicLCMS/ContactPopup.php?district=AD79&
Time for a recall or at least make this knucklehead think twice!
Let's dissect that letter a bit...
"In California, we are very proud of our laws. They are a representative of our collective values; especially the bold, forward-looking laws directly passed by the voters that elevate an issue as important to the protection of protected species."
Really? Laws passed by the voters? I don't seem to recall getting the chance to vote on which areas would be deemed closed to fishing. I do recall getting told I had a mere 3 minutes to speak before the BRTF, and even then my time would be cut short. I also recall that the decision weighed not on my 'vote', rather what the BRTF deemed in the best interests of the population. I further recall the lack of publicity, and being told by the committees that it was our job to educate the 'voters'.
I also recall 'voters' choosing the lesser of two evils as put forth by the MLPA task force, only to have boundaries and options changed without our input; a classic case of bait and switch...let's see what we can get away with, only difference, we didn't have a 'vote'...
"Your actions have raised serious questions about whether you respect the laws of the people of California and whether you are adequately fit to enforce those laws."
So, did you write this or did one of your staff write this and you signed off on it, because if you did, I question your competence and whether you are adequately fit to represent my interests.
"While your actions may not have been illegal in Idaho, they show a lack of judgment and a disregard for how such actions would be perceived by California citizens."
Perceived? Perceived, as in, glad he didn't do this in California?
Maybe that's why he was in Idaho...reaching there, aren't ya?
http://www.standard.net/stories/2011/09/23/mountain-lion-killed-after-attack-idaho-boy
Any cougar attacks or problems in Idaho? So, are you going to ask the Fish and Game wardens to tender their resignations as well?
Letter sent to Ben Hueso as well...how long is your term? Thinking I might make a trip down to Chula Vista...
So I sent my letter to him, and had to designate an area they allow...
So I chose, and I chit you not....
AB 750 2012 Finance: investment trust blue ribbon task force
Approve or Oppose...of course, OPPOSE!
Then my address wasn't in his district, so I gave an address in his district...
What the bloody hell is 'investment trust blue ribbon task force'??????
Is that how they get paid, indirectly?
Free food, free rooms, compensation for travel, and is this paid by citizens without their knowledge?
And we 'voted' for this?
Since Hueso and Wiseman took a dump in my backyard, I wanna go take a dump in their backyard...

Just more horse sh!t from a bunch of phony baloney radicals.
-They're Mad at The World ... lmao
Maybe they should concentrate on something more productive.
-Like cleaning up the sh!t thats floating around in our fishing grounds.
I almost ran this thing over today, it was barely visible in calm water. I called the SD Lifeguard on the radio and gave them the gps #'s. They sent a jetski out and couldn't find it - so I led him back to the the barrel. He just looked at the barrel and said there was nothing he could do ?? (Nice Huh)
Instead he decided to motor over and play with the porpoise. Thats right, he rode away and was playing with the porpoise with his jetski.
- Isn't thats special. (((sheesh)))

I decided to use my money for fuel instead of buying a visa. They can try to extort someone else because I ain't going for it..
I spared the BSB for lack of room in the kill bag - and also knowing I was heading to La Jolla for the afternoon.

Friends, here's the list of California state assembly members who think Dan Rogers should resign over a LEGAL act. Can you spell "witch hunt?"
Is your state representative on the list of those calling for the resignation of Dan Richards, newly elected president of the California Fish and Game Commission? Richards celebrated a successful and legal mountain lion hunt while visiting Idaho, where the big cats are scientifically managed. In California, cougars apparently enjoy the status of sacred cows.
The list is organized by assembly district. Every one is a Democrat. Disagree? Call 'em up and let them know. To quickly check whether you're in a Furious Forty district, visit the Keep America Fishing Action Alert HERE.
Note: We're still double-checking on assembly district 48. On the letter the district number seems unmistakable, but the signature isn't a good match.
The Furious Forty
California assembly signatories to the Ben Hueso letter demanding California Fish and Game Commission president Dan Richards resign over the legal hunt of a mountain lion in Idaho.
Ben Hueso is first; he authored the letter. You can read about his checkered ethical record HERE. WON thinks he's the one who should resign; his judgment and character are questionable. Jared Huffman is next. The grandstanding started with him. He was the first to publicly call for Richards' head. His fingerprints are all over Hueso letter.
