Wow. That sabiki-rig in the first photo is huge! :D
Some good eats right there, Steve.
Assuming you wear a size twelve shoe, I'd say 4 lbs 12 oz's on the red? That's one tasty critter of the deep!

Nada. Dragged them around for 20 min before calling it a day.

the kelp?
This was all shallow, in about 115-120 feet
What? The picture I took of you holding them didn't come out?;)
Meh. I guess it came out, but its not the most flattering pic. I have a knack for somehow making fish look smaller in pictures. I need to perfect my photo poses

Yeah, I gave up completely. My dirty little secret is that I actually like codding, even though I rarely resort to it. I even make my own rock-cod rigs, complete with gaudy beads, feathers and 7/0 hooks. I was going to make a post on how to make them and title it "Giving Up- 101" or "Throwing In The Towel" or something like that

Good foot estimating skills, I do wear a 12. The red went 7 lbs 12 oz. It was kind of a freak. Shocked me when I put it on the scale.

Here it is about to be sliced

While a 7 lb red is decent and tasty consolation prize, I can't say I was satisfied when I got back to the beach. I started the day I was hoping for a fish that could puke up a red that size  :wsb:
Here's hoping to no more codding this year :cheers1::wsb::yt::wsb::yt::cheers1:
Rad read Steve.... :cheers1:
Props on tying your own snazzy rigs too they look good....
Youd make a great fly fisherman buddy.

The red sure is sweetly big, but that treefish and rubberlip are as big are in their max class size :cheers1:
