From what I read (and I read a LOT) most kayakers seem to think of Marine GOOP as the "duct tape of 'yakking." Good for everything and never a problem. Yet, on the package, it says "GOOP is not recommended for use on...polyethylene...plastics."
Reassure me here, folks.

Hard to answer without knowing what your plans are.
Would I use it to cover a 2" hole in the hull....no
Would I use it to create a water tight seal around rivets, screws....etc......yes

It will not bond with poly plastics, meaning it won't change the chemical structure of the surface plastic"bonding" the two together. It will stick to plastic quite well, especially if you scuff the surface of the plastic with some sandpaper

It's definitely safe on my outback, I used it all over the place and no melting plastic to speak of.

Thanks, guys. It's that "melting" issue I was concerned about. I was reasonably sure there was no danger because no post I've read had reported any. But I'm a cautious guy, stemming from my pilot days. Once you're afloat (or airborne) it's a bad time to discover a problem!
