Looking for a reel for my Graftech GISM which is a pretty stiff albeit heavy rod. Setup will be for big swimbaits 5''+ for calicos and grumps. I've read mixed reviews about the Toro, and haven't heard anything bad about the Curado yet, but also haven't read about the Curado being able to land yellowtail. I rinse and lube my gear regularly. Which is a more durable reel and which should I get?

I've been fishing a revo toro for a couple seasons on the yak and have no complaints. bulletproof and handles big fish fine.

How heavy of line and how much capacity are you looking for? as mentioned earlier, the revo inshore is great too. Countless bass and several lings and cuda and it's still as good as new.

I don't own any curado's so I can't answer there.

I'll be fishing 50-65lb braid w/ leader 25# -50#. I want enough capacity and strength so that if a YT decides to bite I have enough line to bring him in.

I've got a curado 200e7 and its a great reel, seems too light for this particular setup. And the Revo Inshore is the same size reel so I lean to the same feeling of it being inadequate, but I could be wrong...

Revo toro 50 hs. I have 5 curados and love them but they need a lot of maintenance if used in the salt. The revo toros and inshores are made for the salt and have a corosion resistant frame and have more drag.

Myself, I'd go with the Curado 300.

Have all of the above and none of them compare to the Okuma Cedros 273 CJ, smaller than the Revo Inshore and holds almost as much as my 300? Heck I use it for Big Reds and whatever else will hit me at 150'-210'

if you have the money....tranX but if not then it depends on the size of your hands.....abu revo if you have large hands the shimano ej if you have medium to small hands. both are silky smooth casters

"but also haven't read about the Curado being able to land yellowtail" shimano claims its capable. I haven't had the chance to yet but i figured if it doesn't i will personally drop it off at shimano headquarter and demand a reel that could :) tranX

Cedros cj max drag 14lbs
Curado 300e 15lbs max drag
Toro 20/22lbs max drag
Orra inshore 15lbs max drag
REVO inshore max drag 24lbs

I don't think it's the drag power that matters so much, but the quality of the gears but correct me if I'm wrong? My Revo s is supposed to have 24 lbs of drag( dont know if i believe that but it is a nice reel so far for spotties and Lmb) I would rather be pullin on yt with a beefier reel.

Curado seems like the safest bet with shimanos great service if the reel should fail.... But for some reason the Toro seems like a more beefy reel to me.

All these great reels make buying complicated! Ha

I had a big sandbass bass pull drag out of my Revo inshore and there is no way it has 24lbs of drag. Not a huge fan of my Revo, so if you decide you want one, mine is for sale. The Curado 200-300e are all nice, another reel you may think about that I love fishing out in the kelp is the Calcutta 400. If you use light braid with a top shot, then you could even use a Citica or Chronarch in the kelp. I throw my Cedros, Chronarch 200, Calcutta 400, and Curado 300 in the kelp. Another thing you can do as well is upgrade your bearings and drag discs.

1) Daiwa Luna 253 or 2) record 60 (high cap model).

I have both. Love them. Luna is heavier and more solid. Record is a bit lighter but plenty strong. I know some guys love bicycle parts :D:D:D but I'd take those two over anything they make.

Load with 50# spectra and top shot with 3-4' of flouro. you'll be happier than a pig in shit:reel::reel:
