Ok, I am the weird guy at the Shelter Island boat launch with downriggers and flashers. Flashing and bumping paid off today. No monsters but Halis upwards of 30-inches (8-lbs). Also, three of the seven I got this morning were females so bigger things are to come!

Cool, warmer water, warmer weather, good fishing.

I'm hoping 2 of the 7 you got made their way back into the water. Bag limit is 5. Great day fishing but regs are regs..

^Is there a cheat sheet somewhere that we could print out/keep on the yak for us newbs? It's tough to remember all the size requirements/limits.

Your best bet is to know what species you are targeting and brush up on the regs the night before. For those of you with a smart phone, bookmark the dfg website on your browser for quick reference. A copy of current saltwater and freshwater regs can be aquired for free at any sport goods or tackle shop. when I first started fishing I laminated the photo reference pages so I could do a quick check for identifying species. All anglers are to be expected to know regs for the fish they are targeting.
