Is it a Shimano Speedmaster IV with a green Iron jig and a Sabre rod with blue handle ? I flipped on the way back today and lost it.

I keep hoping my 9ft super seeker rod washes up I lost a month ago. Any chance?

the guy at OEX said he got 4 that washed up last week alone. So worth giving them a call to see if you have your gear. I can see why people put their names and cel # on their gear.

Why not store your valuable reels under hatch especially when surf landing ?
I saw a high end reel (Avet) attatched to a broken rod few days ago just outsdie LJ surf zone(6 feet or so deep) in the morning, very temping to jump out and get it , but decided not to...
That's somebody's $300+ in the water....

I stowed away my gear yesterday purely on the fact i might hit someone coming in. Sure enough i had one of those rental kayak turn in on me as i was on a wave and took a bath sooner then i wanted to. Kayak didn't flip though so that was good:ack2:

I never stowe my rods, though its probably a good idea. I always ensure the leashes are attached, line is cut (dont want a hook in the face), and gaff is stowed in the hull (don't want a piece of that).

1) ALWAYS stow the outfits if surf is anything above 2 feet high, but at least put a bungee around them to keep from loosing them when less than 2 feet.
2) Never try to land when a rental is trying to land. Odds are, they will screw you up.

Bigmozi, I am glad you saw the posting and will be able to get your gear back. Mike, you are right, folks from BWE are pretty cool, being fairly new to kayak fishing and BWE ( just sign up yesterday to post about the gear) I got some great information from BWE postings and I meet a few members on Sunday while I was waiting on the beach for my ride and everyone seem very friendly. BTW, don't forget to thank the guys at OEX!
Looking forward to meeting some of you out on the water in the future, good fishing!
