Dropper vs Carolina. Does using one have any advantage over the other in different situations?

I use a Carolina to troll or when casting and retrieving. Carolina tend to get tangled in the kelp but presents the bait more naturally when moving. Dropper l loop or a three way swivel setup is good on the bottom or in the kelp. It should be used when you want your line more vertical. Stationary fishing or slow drifting.

I tend to use a carolina when fishing in shallow water or like William said, for casting and retrieving. I like a dropper for deeper water or when drifting. The dropper can use a heavier wieght and stay vertical. I also like a dropper when using big baits like macks. Mike
