Ok this is a well asked question.
I have a 2012 Subaru Forester with roof racks.
I have a PA 14.
Suggestions for safe transport.
I can get it on top of the suv but worried about it sliding side to side.
should I just get a set of saddles?

You can find used sets for around 100 bucks....protect your Subaru, and PA.

thule or yakima mounts won't have enough pressure on a single spot to go through the hull w/ using tie downs, none less on a SOT kayak. If it does, you have much bigger problems that will need to be taken up w/ Hobie.
That might be a problem with sit in kayaks made from fiberglass and race weight.

thule and yakima are both great brands......don't over tighten the straps....you can look at point of contact where saddle and kayak meets...if there is an idention that's too much. you want to find that sweet spot where your boat will stay put without making that idention. Also I always...always tie down the bow and stern. Oh don't go through the scupper holes i heard you can jack them up that way besides there is no need to

I have actually seen what strapping threw a scupper whole could do and it isn't pretty I tell you that much!
It is just like towing your car from the axel! Many different things can go wrong!
Well if anyone has a used set let me know
