lol. i havent been to the deep hole, but i can say that there are squid outside of NPH and at balboa pier in newport. saw a guy pull some squid in with a sabiki jig on sunday.

ohhh yeah, this one is my favorite....you could just go drive up there and lurk around on the beach for a few hrs and jock every kayaker you see goin out or coming in to get a report, that way you don't actually have to paddle out!! :D

also make sure you check their yaks very well....some guys might be dicks and hide their fish and tell you fishing sucked.
