My go-to stick for Halibut is a GLoomis BBR964C. Absorbs everything they can throw at it, and snaps back quick enough not to allow slack on the headshakes. Also very sensitive to pick up the "Soft Bites" that occur so often. Still has enough backbone in the lowest 4' that I can pull up big BSB with it.

Right on thanks for that. I'll have to check it out for sure. Not like I need another rod but I'm still looking for that "perfect" stick.

Great video and congrats on the PB. Every legal hali I catch freeks out when I gaff it. That fish was cool as the fisherman.

Can you elaborate on the rigs that you use for halibut? Looks like a long dropper loop style rig in one of the videos, but could not tell what the rig was on the 45# fish.
On your other underwater video you are dragging dead bait with a dodger. Do you have that hooked to a downrigger of some sort?
Would love some insight from a halibut slayer like yourself.:you_rock:
