This is one of four I caught on this day, of the 7 total I saw hooked up.

None of the sharks were killed. :p

After reviewing this video in slow motion, It looks like the shark might have been tail hooked. It's kind of hard to tell.

It was a dead mac pinned to a scrambled egg iron, so I think either he bumped it and then tail smacked, which hooked him or... he took the bait and the mac came off leaving the iron in his mouth. It broke off after 20 minutes so it's hard to say. It was 65# hollow core straight to the iron, so a break is unlikely unless it was in his mouth.

Oh well. I'll never know

Enjoy

That could be true, 6.75 seconds sounds about right before a camera fails from saltwater. Lol

very nice! were those tail slaps that it kept doing? because it wasnt hitting the bait with its tail most of the time. maybe it needs to work on accuracy.

Thanks for the video. It's kinda cool to see how the shark reacts to the bait and see it trying to tail slap it. Thanks. :cheers1:

I think first the shark whips it's tail in the water without trying to hit it, just to disorient or corral the bait. Trying to get it to stay in the same spot before going in for the tail slap. It would be hard to hit a fast moving bait with it's tail so it makes sense it would try and slow it down first.

Just my guess though.

yep, he took that mac and looks like the iron went along his side.

they don't have to come in contact with their prey to stun it. just like you can stun guppies in a pond by slapping the water.
