Just wrapped this short (18") double hook gaff. Now it's time to get on the water and use it!

are there barbs?

it looks good for halibut (smaller models) but i hope it works out for yellows and white seabass. you might need a bigger gap and thicker gauge hook.

Nice work! Hey is that home depot paracord....? Looks like a great barracuda gaff for sure.

Yeah I was making it more for Barris and an occasional Bonito or something super crazy wiggly. The hook is barbless; I just put tape on it because I got tired of poking myself every other wrap  I made a few more with single hooks for me and mom and maybe to start selling.

That is HD paracord but I finally got some Tunacord so I'm going to start playing around with that.

Next in line are my line of landing nets!

Right on. Small halibut, especially good for light line fishing small dorado.

With smallish thin profile wiggly fish the two hooks give you more holding power especially if your gaffing over their back, but when the fish get larger like ten pounds you want a bigger gap to get more bite.

Another thing to keep in mind with the small gap the hooks are not sinking in as deep. I like a fairly large gap single hook for some fish because if you hit them right it really injures and can actually immobilize them.

Yeah no doubt. I forgot about barracuda but they work great for barries as well. My buddy Mike used to have one of those and he loved it for fishing barracuda.

Lol, that's a cool gaff! But make sure you stick both hooks in the fish or you'll have a hook exposed to puncture your yak or yourself. Let us know how it works.

Thanks guys. I posted pics on some of the single hook gaffs I made and I'm making more. This is the link to the single hook gaffs I made

Sweet looking gaff right there. I've only see doubles used on cuda and small squirly dorado. A small single might be better for most of our local kayak needs. Mike

Thanks guys for the encouragement. I just stocked up on more bamboo and some tuna cord this time and I'm gonna wrap some more. These were my first ones and to get some practice in before making a full line of them.

If any of you want or know other fisherman that want one shoot me a message. I'll make custom lengths.

Once again, Thanks for the ideas.
