ill probably be there on the weekend or after work if i end up having any jobs in that area during the week...i usually just stock up on terminal tackel, line, weight etc. Always make sure to grab 30 or so big hammers and some WARbaits slayer heads. I was hoping to make a bigger rod or reel purchase but now with being in the market for a new truck i will have to be a little more thrifty.

I might go to the long beach one. I need to find two avet reels, also could use some lead, jig heads, swim baits, big ass spool spectra, hooks, a new ultralight. I'll think have to save up like a grand by than lol

I have been to the long beach show 10-15 times. I used to go buy rod building stuff. I went last year. If you go it better be for the show and not to save a buck unless you are getting one of the reel deals offered by Big 5 or Turners. The problem trying to save a buck is over coming the 20 to 25 bucks in parking and entry fee, another 15 if you bring your son/daughter. Last year I spent about $55 getting in (parking, son, nephew, and me) bought some weedless lead heads (4 packs of 5 at $5 each), some plastics (about 10 bucks worth), and and trolling rod reel seat ($10). total bill $105. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to see at the show, and a lot of really knowledgeable reps and demonstrators. One year I spent an hour talking to and watching Doc Ski weave. But from a dollar point of view its hard to save unless its a large ticket item you know is on sale before hand.

I would always ditch work on wednesday,be one of the first 100 or so in line and run straight to turners giant yellow tower....It was like a fishing black friday sale.

I swear I have hundreds of stickers from over the years...There are always good deals on trips there and you never know what you will see,I have a pic of me holding a Kovalovsky 20/0 reel that was Zane Grey's.

I didnt go last year but maybe will this year.

IMO, the deals are OK but I go every year for the knowledge. I know nothing replaces time on the water but hell, I can't tell you how much I've learned at seminars given by guys like Jim Sammons, Steve Carson, Kevin Nakada, Mark Wisch, Brandon Heyward...the list is extensive. Well worth the money for me. :cheers1:
