Departed at 6:15am from baby beach. My boy caught his first fish. Was his 2nd trip out. Was a 13" calico bass. Decided to keep it and eat it, since the new regs don't go into affect until March. Was fairly slow. Lots of kayaks out today. Nice meeting Chuck out on our way to the headlands. We also caught a sculpin.
Nice day out there today.

WTG, getting your boy on the fish. Once the water warms a bit, the bite should wake up.

Congrats to your son on his first fish!
I was out there yesterday as well, like you said there were quite a few out other kayak fisherman out there. I ended the day with one sandy and a calico. Both were a bit skinny so I let them go to fatten up for next time. Caught the sandy on a green back mackerel and the calico on a big hammer swimbait.
Maybe ill see you out there next weekend.

You caught a skinny bass on a live greenie? Never ceases to amaze me how opportunistic those fish really are

I started out about 9am but I went south instead of north, pretty much the same as for the bite. Managed one 14" Calico and about the same sized Sandie. Around 4pm I was debating heading in and decided to stick it out and see if God would surprise me. He did...
And BTW, check out the hook I was using, some of you guys will recognize it...
