Odd question, has anyone ever taken a kayak out on Lake San Marcos. My grandfather lives across the street from the lake. I grew up fishing on the lake but my grandparents sold their boat years ago. I go down there every couple of weeks to check up on my grandfather. If I were to ask him, he would probably scold me for even asking but I've been thinking lately it might be fun... hell what could they do but kick me off. I have caught some monster bass out of that lake. I just curious to see if anyone has ever been out there.

I always wonder about that lake. It must hold some monsters and be relatively unpressured.
Some people I know have fished on the southern end where there aren't any homes/docks, but I don't know if it was legit or if it was ninja fishing.

From what I've read since you have family there they'd be hard pressed to do anything about it but it is considered private so if security doesn't escort you off then the ssheriff's seem to enjoy giving trespassing tickets, local source for revenue! My buddy is minutes from there and learned that the expensive way.
Pisses him off because there is some good fishing within walking distance of his house and he can't enjoy it.

My buddy fished it the other day and I was going to launch out of there because I have friends that live in LSM but he talked to security and they said it's a HUGE fine for boating(kayaking) w/o a registered boat. In order to kayak it, it seems one would need to have it registered with the lake. In your case you might be able to register it with your grandparent's. Keep us posted
