Been awhile since I visited here; the last few months have been a little rough for me but things are looking up again.
I Took a day off to go do some fishing with my Bro Jim and glad I did. It's Just what I needed; a long 4 day weekend and some time on the water with a good friend to get my head straight again;).
He's new to both Ca Saltwater Fishing and the "Yak" scene, he just bought a new PA12 and really wanted to get on the water with someone who could show him the "Ropes" a bit so he drove all the way down from Monterey with his new PA so we could do some fishing this weekend.
We were gonna hit up La Jolla but got up a little late after a night of catching up over some beers :cheers1: so we opted for the Bay and launched at SI around 11:30.
Launched and headed for the bait barge. The dines were smallish(2"-3") and not very lively. We headed out to the area around the #17 bouy and had a very slow day, we scratched a few bites here and there but nothing was brought home for the freezer.
Water temp was 58-60, mild breeze and reletivly flat out there.
The highlight of the day was watching Jim Go for a sleigh ride when he caught this BSB, I took this pic right before the fish was realeased.

Had to deflate it's air bladder and made sure it was recovered when we released it, he took off like greased lightning once he recovered after a good 20 minute battle and I was satisfied that the Fish was gonna be just fine. It was Biggest Fish Jim ever caught :) and he got it on a rod and reel I gave him (7' Penn Power Stick with a Penn 320 GTI reel with the level wind removed ;) spooled with 65lb Spectra).
I was pretty Stoked for him.
We're Gonna Hit up LJ on Sunday, See you on the Water :D
