If you don't catch your own squid or need a backup just in case you don't catch any I found a place where they sell really cheap squid. I'm sure some of you know it already but for those that don't I just bought a 5lb block of squid (name on the box: Rosa Del Mar) for $10.99 at 99 Ranch in Clairemont Mesa, SD. I've been to walmart and it's $3.47 or something like that and all other unfrozen ones are over $2.70 a pound. Just letting you know for those SD natives. I stuffed four, one quart ziplock bags full of them and in my freezer. Happy fishing.

Sounds TOO cheap to be quality bait squid. I would imagine its not very fresh

Frozen squid from the market are probably frozen same day. I've been using those for years and they seem pretty fresh for frozen squid. You can find them at just about any large Asian market.

For you North County people, Phil-Asian Market off of Bent and San Marcos Blvd has 5lb blocks for $8. The squid is top quality and she gets deliveries every 2 weeks. Always keep a block in the freezer for those last minute trips.

Wow. You have me beat. If I ever make my way up there for any reason I'll make sure to stop by there and get some. Thanks for the input.

The lady is really cool. I send my friends there for squid and everyone has given me positive feedback about the bait. It's always good to keep at least a box in the freezer
