Walked across the border Sunday and was picked up by a friend on the other side at 3:30am to fish the surf South of Ensenada (30 miles?). We made a right turn at San Vicente which is located between Erendira (Castro's Camp) and Punta Cabras. The dirt road to the beach was about 12 miles of beautiful, remote, rolling hills. Got there at sunrise and fished hard for butts without a biter. We caught quite a few very nice Surf Perch. Had the entire beach to ourselves.

Thank you Tony...when is Team Sewer going to open up the next trip allowing us "outsiders" in??? Soon I hope.
Johnnie! The girls are getting older and the fishing time is really opening up. Here's a recent trip...in the dark! Jim

Did you need 4WD at all on that road? I would love to fish in Baja again. Years ago I had a trailer at a place called "Tony's Camp". I had a little canoe and a skiff with a small outboard. I used to fish the estuary for halibut and bass. It was in Estero Bay. I miss Baja but with all the bad press ( and I lost the trailer to a divorce...) I have shied from Baja over the years. Those surf perch are delicious over a grill. They chase nicely with some Modelo Especial!

Janine! This road is in fairly good shape. No need for 4wd at all. I've stayed away from Baja over the past 10 years for the same reason but it's pulling at me pretty hard. One day, I'll be a regular again...with the yak on top! Jim

Sounds like you were close to Punto Santo Tomas. I fished there about 15 years ago and again about 5 years ago and both times it was awesome. Hired a guide with a panga and enjoyed wide open rockfish, ling cod, and calicos. I look forward to taking the yak down there soon.

Looks like a good time Jim. You're always fishing, and that sir is awesome!
I've ridden that area on dirtbikes many times. Me and some buddies did MX every year. One of my favorites was Ensenada to San Quintin. That was Day 1 and rode it back the next day. 350 miles roundtrip. Stayed at the Old Mill in SQ
and those were fun days. Besides Pismo, you ride your bike on the beach here in the States, you'd get a $$$ ticket. Down there, nothing but smiles from folks.
Congrats on another great day fishing. Oh, here's your paleta! :)

Funny you should mention that...Something like (20) dirt bikes came through, rested and watched us for a while. I'm like...where in the hell did you guys (and girls) come from and where are you going?...very cool weekend for them I'm sure...

Where's Waldo?
Riding down there is a hoot. You carry everything that you think you even remotely might need. One this ride we had one guy rip off his water pump, another crack his engine case, you get the idea. Here's about half our group at the Old Mill. I'd be up for a MX trip to fish anytime dude.
