That's cool. Never would have taken a leopard seal for being playful

Those animals are huge.. Had a friend who worked over there for a couple of years. He mentioned that leopard seals are very aggresive and not afraid of anything or anyone. They are at the top of the food chain out there and they know it. Thats a once in a life time experience.

It was attempting to mate with the kayak. They should check their scupper holes:D

I may be mistaken but don't orcas eat those things? So their not technically at the top of the foodchain.

I asked him same question and he said that orcas rarely come in that area and they looked for easier prey. Yes in the ocean Orcas are at the very top of the food chain, He worked on a research ship called HERO .Lots of very cool stories and pics that could easy be on the NG.

Those things are killers.

"...A 28-year-old marine biologist has been killed by Antarctica's most dangerous predator, a leopard seal, while on a snorkelling mission at a British research base...."

My father worked at sea world in the 70s and said that the vets there refused to have a leopard seal there. They were terrified of the Stellar Sea Lion male and feared the Leopard seal more.
