Ok, so I've been trying to figure this out on my own but I can't make up my mind. I need a good reel and a good rod. Some thing that is a reliable castor and I can jig with as well. Also need something that will hold enough line so that I won't get spooled out. Also need advice on a good line to use. Thanks for any and all advice. Tight lines -Andy

Best bet is to go to tackle shop and get your hands on a few.

First question is what are you planning to fish for? Second is how much you willing to spend?

That's a good suggestion. I like Shimano....what about a Trinidad 16N on a Teramar....I love my Curado 300ej on a Teramar West Coast casting rod....

I've heard a lot of people talk about the saltist, what makes them so good?

easy to maintain, cast a country mile, good drags and can be found for about $100 to $175.
get in touch with "fishaholic" on here, he more then likely will have a good deal.also check out alantani.com for maintaince and loads of info on reels

If you live in the San Diego area. Go to Squidco, tell them what you are looking to do, how you fish, where and how much you have to spend. They will set you up correctly. They know their stuff.
