After getting blown out of the Sacramento delta with 30-40 mph winds, I continued up to Shasta Lake to fish trout and Kokanee. No luck on the trout so far, but the Pitt Arm is more known for the bass. Seems like the whole place is full of these 11 - 12 inches. They put on a fun fight.

Looks like fun Kai. Hope to see some Kokanee and big trout up next!

The scenery up there is just incredible. Catching fish there, what a life.

Watched deer playing on the shoreline, ospreys fishing in one of the bays, and two bald eagles flew over my head on the way back in. Yea, I'm liking it here...

Sure looks like a spotty to me. Wish we had some in our local lakes.
Good luck on the trout.

Well, day 3 of lake Shasta. Lots of bass caught & released, and finally started getting into the rainbows, but every one of them is infested with parasitic Copepods. I was really hoping to connect with the big brown trout that the McCloud arm is famous for, but no luck. I did see one though - a good 8 - 9 pounder jumped out on front of me at 6:45 this morning.
You would think getting a real early start would put you out ahead of the idiot water skiers - you would be wrong...
Hitting the dam area tomorrow - deep and cold water there, and hopefully the salmon will cooperate.
