How do you find squid?

Hello,

I've heard people mention "the squid grounds" when referring to catching squid for bait. Is this a specific location in La Jolla? I don't have a fish finder. Is it possible to find squid without one?

Or am I going to be limited to randomly dropping my squid jig somewhere and hoping for the best?
