Anyone have Seadek installed on their kayaks? I just received my seadek kit in the mail and will be putting it on soon. Will post pics of it after I am done. Was just wondering if anyone had any reviews they'd like to share on the product. I have heard nothing but good thing about.

I don't like to stick anything adhesive unless it is very durable. Don't like having things come off after a period of wear and tear.

Let us know how it handles. I may be a convert...

We have installed a few for customers, It is good stuff.

Been waiting for probably 6 months for pricing from them so that OEX can stock it but despite my following up several times have got nothing. I will bug them again today.

This is the coolest use of SeaDek that we did for an old time San Diego kayak fisherman now living in Virgina Beach area.

Seadek is just closed cell EVA foam just like the EVA tile you can get from Home depot.
http://foamtiles.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/new-tatami-tiles.jpg

I used EVA foam in the footwells and the rear well of my x-13 glued down with automotive trim (contact) adhesive. It raised the deck a half inch up front and I doubled it in the back for a full inch.. It adds virtually no weight, makes the yak quieter, raised the water line in back and acts like floatation. Five years later still no issues. I don't know what Seadek charges but Home depot EVA is dirt cheap and 3M spray trim adhesive is pretty inexpensive.

It's funny how things come around. When I did it people thought I was being ridiculously fancy, but yours will I'm sure look great. My only concern would be the adhesive but if it peels up you can always glue it back down.

Yeah thats the only thing I am worried about is how well it stays glued down.

Yep LED Deck Lights, we do a good bit of those. He also has a Blue LED Livewell Light so he can see inside the bait tank at night.

Overall it is a nice clean package and is working out great for him.

As for the Glue on the SeaDek, we just flashed the plastic with a torch then heated the adhesive. Lots of folks have been using this stuff for a long while and have no issues.

How much does the lighting cost? I wouldn't mind getting that installed.

Heres a pic of that Livewell light and the SeaDek on the side hatches.

If we ever get pricing on having this stuff in store we were hopping to help develop these precut pieces for the other Malibu hatches along with kits for other popular boats.

Nice idea with the home depot foam. What did you do around the scupper holes? It looks like the foam has a cutout near the foot area. Raising the waterline in the back would be great since everything back there is always sitting in a half inch or so of water.

In the footwells I placed a aluminum perforated mesh over the front scupper then closed off the rear. On my x-13 water would splash up through the rear footwell scuppers when I paddled, so I closed them off. The mesh on the fronts is to keep things like sinkers, hooks and keys from falling through the hole.

Rear the foam ends right at the scupper so my bait tank doesn't sit on the foam but lower on the original plastic and it drains through the scuppers.

We're on the same page. That water back in the well was always an issue so I raised the rear deck with foam so it's above the water line.

Why, isn't it for standing on?

Yep, need to wait :( until they make kits for the Outback. On the other hand I might go with the foam from Home Depot & sound proof the hull inside where I store stuff and rolls around inside (i.e. egg/torpedo sinkers, jigs etc). :(
Just an idea & my $.02

Tell me... does it make a squeaky noise if you rub across it quickly?

That would be the only downside to installing it on a vessel...

I think I found that diamond pattern foam from those pictures posted earlier at home depot, it's 2' x 3' floor mats at $18.00 each. I'd need two and they seem a bit heavy so I think I'll keep looking.

following up on this thread, my buddy installed seadek on his S14 well over a year ago and has stood up very well to hard use.
On the other hand, I have been trying to get my kit for about a month now, finally invoiced, paid and shipped a week ago but still not here. They didn't share shipping info so if it doesn't show soon, a stink will be raised. Definitely a little flaky on the customer service side

Big Lots has them too, for cheaper.

got my seadek and installed yesterday. Easy to apply, feels rock solid. Will provide a comfy surface to stand. Fashion police may knock me for gray/white camo on top of gray / black camo, but I like it.

Nice! Did you have to create your own pattern w/ their template kit?
