Taking the family camping on Santa Cruz island in a couple weeks. I'm bring the kayak to fish. Looking for some advice. I will be paddling out of MPLA area at scorpion any good spots around there. Any chance of yellow tail near there. Never kayaked out there. So any advice would be nice ill be there for 3 days. Thanks shawn:wsb:

Now that sounds like a potentially fun trip! How are you going to get the kayak out there? Last time I was on Santa Cruz Island I was bowhunting pigs - that was quite a few years ago...
Be sure to post up a full report, I'd like to do a camping trip like that in the future.

Chinese is just west of there, squid are plentiful there. Also, give in front of Scorpions a drift or 2 for the flat one's. Hope the wind doesn't spoil your plans.

hi sean. Got busy this weekend taking kids on one of the boats that fished santa cruz.. We fished very close to shore and squid was plenty to say the least.. Fishing should be great and water fill of life for all 3 targets.. Will call to update you on rest.. My buddies at work are looking to do a catalina camping trip in july..
