I'm going to give it another try on Saturday. I have used the three way swivel and dodger/flasher before with live bait before but I'm going to try it this time with big hammer swim baits.
Has anyone ever tried this way before? If so any pointers would be nice. I'm going to set one rig up this way and the other with live bait as usual.
Anyone going to be out in Dana Point on Saturday? Ill be there from 430-9 am

430-9? Why so short and early. I'd go if you stayed longer

Keep the leader short enough to allow the flasher to give some action to the swimbait.

Did they have sardines at the bait barge?
You should come out and we will see if I can help you find your first legal

Here are a few examples of how I rig my hoochies. I haven't noticed one to be more effective than the other. The biggest improvement was when I took Gregs advise 6 months ago and shortened my leader to about 12 inches. The results were much better. I also don't feel trebels as the back hook are necessary, and they just pick up more stuff along the bottom.
Also, I sugest making the line between the swivel and the flasher 25-50% stronger than the line from the flasher to the hook. That way if you get hung up and need to break off, you're less likely to lose your $12 flasher.

I've had some hits on the white hoochie, nothing to write home about but definitely got some hits on it.

The tail thing glows, which I think helps when the squid move out. Just a suspicion with no supporting evidence

Here's a question, do you use a weight inside the the hoochie? If so how much? Thanks!!!

I use a 3 way swivel with 15 lb test to the 2 oz weight and 50 lb to the dodger then 20 lb to the hoochie
