That's awesome! the stuff has to be similiar to what Jamie Hyneman uses on his famous white shirts.
I wonder if spraying a whole hull would make it easier to paddle?

Went to the detail page listed in the article, price and coverage.
At Home Depot, Rust-Oleum NeverWet includes two spray cans — a base coat and a top coat — that can cover 10 to 15 square feet.
Retailing for $19.97, Rust-Oleum NeverWet will begin appearing over the next few weeks at stores other than Home Depot here and nationwide.

Would really appear to have some great potential. I wonder if you coat something and happen to miss an area would something corrisive like saltwater would get under it and cause it to lift or trap salts increasing the corrision.
May have to grab some just to play with.:D

Just might have to try this on my waders.
Maybe even try it on the sheets that I use on third dates!

inside of waders seems like it would be awesome! they won't get wet and they wont' need to dry...should help out on those multi day fishing trips...no more soggy, cold wet waders on day 2...

Depending on how long this spray lasts there are endless possibilities. Dry pants that are breathable and actually work! while your at it just spray everything your wearing so if you have a yard sale while landing the only thing that will be wet is your hair! Lets see kayak seat, everything metal that rusts on your yak, truck seat, mud flaps, electronics. But like all good things I really doubt it works as good as they say for any realistic time frame.

If you watch the video it says it still allows fabric to breath because it does not seal the fabric to create a waterproof surface it uses... I don't remember exactly what the technical terms are but magic, yea we will call it magic lol

Things I've tested it on.
Sunglasses - Doesn't work: Way too hazy!
Paddle Pants - Works awesome.
Hooks - I sprayed a hook and put it in some salt water with a non treated hook. Testing the rust repel capabilities.

I wouldn't bother. It's actually not all the durable, at least 24 hours after I applied 4 coats. It peels kind of easily. Also, it gives a very almost feels kind of furry weird texture. I'm going to spray the inside of my reels but defiantly not the outside. I was thinking about my kayak, but then I did a bunch of tests and it just leaves a milky white haze on everything.

I'm tempted to spray the inside of my fish cooler. However just need to wait for the 70+ lbs of fish to move out before I test it.

I was thinking about that this morning...that would be the perfect place to put it no more blood slime and guts to scrub off at the end of the day.

We will have to revisit this topic in about 2-3 weeks.
Just wanna see how many good vs. bad..
How many Lab Monkeys survive...:D
Who's going to spray their phone like on the video,
How hard is it to remove the coating after and, when the desired effects do not work??
I think I'll make some popcorn....

Well...just sprayed it on one of my small coolers to see if it works, and indeed it does. It does leave a rough texture to the surface after it's been sprayed though. Spraying it on a fishfinder screen probably wouldn't be a good idea, would be bitch'n though.
I guess we'll wait and see how long this stuff holds up for....

how do you think this will affect electrical connectors? I wonder if it would help prevent salt water intrusion and corrosion, but still allow conductivity? I have a rubber boot style trailer connector to my bait tank pump that already has some salty crud and corrosion setting in. I like the idea of using it on the paddles and mirage drives also. Hmm..

This is what I'll be testing next. I think it's best to cover it in tape/shrink
wrap THEN paint it.

hows the durability for hooks and the cables on the mirage? if i spray my mirage, gaff and game clip with it, is it just going to rub off like normal paint does?
spraying your seat would be an ideal place to start as well.

I'm sure the hooks won't hold up during use, but could help keep them from rusting while keeping them in the kayak.

kinda what i figured. so general cleaning will remove it from surfaces.
instead of coating the toilet brush, someone should coat a whole toilet, inside and out and see if it stays clean.

Good idea, but why stop there? Paint my whole bathroom and continue on paint my whole house, never have to clean again!

After seeing this stuff in use on my cooler for the last day...I don't think it's very durable. It looks like it would be great on surfaces that don't get touched or handled. The coating seems to rub off easily. I coated my fish billy club for further testing...

Me too, it really does some amazing applications, they're just not designed for us. I think that it will work fine on a regular paddle, but anything that get any sort of abrasion would likely not hold up.

I'm guessing it's like most other paints - won't stick to non-porous surfaces, which is just about everything made for water/kayaking.
