I went with my two favorite fishing partners.....
My dad

I always do well when I fish with them.....

She weighed 30#. My personal best! Not only did I get two in one day, but I landed my biggest too!

Happy girl!

Nice day Janine!
Played hookie from work, then hooky with the halibuts.
Doing with your two favorite people just ups the awesome factor of it all.
Congrats on the PB!

Keep up the bad girl attitude - you are obviously very good at being bad! Nothing better then sharing that experience with the family and a PR hali to boot! Thanks for the report.

Yes it was/is an "awesome hali"! If you are catching shorts, it's only a matter of time till you catch the legal. If you are catching shorts, then you know what you are doing as far as what the bites feel like etc... that is half the battle with 'buts. I had been coming off a huge skunk that lasted about 3 trips . I needed that one! Now if I could only do that on my yak....

Nice!!! I think I better start taking a little heavier gear out there. I would have got smoked by that thing with my light gear.
janines.fishtales@cox.net

funny you should mention heavier gear. for the longest time, I was using 15 # flouro leaders on a 25-30# mainline mono. but I thought, why? The bay is so murky on a clear day. So that day, I was 30# mainlilne, with 30# flouro leaders. And it's a good thing, cuz he bounced off the gaff the first time in. It was the heavier line that let me land him. food for thought...
