View Full Version : So...What Did You Lose Today?

Been thinking about all the gear I've lost lately. Fairly "extensive". This might be a good thread to learn from at other's expense...maybe a laugher or two as well. Here's mine for today: I'm getting the gaff ready (take off the tennis ball) and put it in my lap. Reaching for the gaff usually means quality feesh...it comes to color, I reach for it and ...gone. It's a "floating" gaff for crying out loud. So I'm screaming for a buddy to help a brotha out...should I put a float on my floating gaff? Jim

The tennis ball was the float!

I learned quick that Vhf radios wobble on their way down, they don't sink as fact as one would think.

Ive been pretty fortunate, never flipped, I took a over head wave on the way in once and only lost a beenie. A few weeks ago I set a handfull of 1/4 oz sliding sinkers on that flat spot in front of me but that turned out to slope towards the mirage drive well and they all rolled right into the drink.

I drilled a hole through the end just below the grip and attach a leash.
Almost lost my bait rod on Thursday. The swells were big and I laid the rod across my lap to remove a green back when kerplunk the only thing keeping the rod from davey jones locker was the 3 sabiki hooks buried in my hand.

Of all the things I've lost my mind is the one I miss the most.

Can't say I lost my mind out there, but maybe my memory. But I also found my Church and sanity there!

Thankfully not too much in the lost gear column for the 15 years I've been yak fishing. 1 pair of cheap dykes, a cheap home made gaff, a decent pair of sun glasses, and a Pacifica/Progear out fit. Lost the glasses and rod/real in a roll over on the way in on a tiny day in LJ. Just got complacent. Mike

I've done the same but had 3 green backs on. Oops leashes r a must but for sandwiches merely impossible..those things are. Mess on board like a mini tuna :)
