Guys, cabbalas has this depth sounder (Lowrance HDS-5 )on sale it is a gen 1. Does anyone have one like this and are they any good?:svengo:

Very popular unit. Some professional kayak guides use or used it.

I had the HDS-5 Gen 1 for about a year. I was very happy with it. You can really dial in the settings for optimal viewing wherever you fish. It's very user friendly and there are many cool features.

Now, I have the Elite-7 HDI, which I am also happy with, but the HDS series seems like the electronics and functions are much more solid than the HDI series. If the price is right for you, go for it.

Which transducer did you have for the HDS, the 50/200 or the 83/200 hz ?:cheers1:
