I see some conflicting stuff about reel grease. Some posts say use a "blue" grease for the gears and drag grease for the drags.

The LTS guy said use the drag grease for gears and drags alike.

The description of Shimano (http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Reel_Grease/descpage-SHRG.html) and Cals (http://www.reeldrags.com/CalsDragGrease.html) drag grease says for reels and drags.

I got some Shimano Star Drag grease, should be good to go for gears too? Apparently it's not the stuff they use from the factory.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe some drag washers are supossed to be bone dry. If this is the case, make sure your washers are the ones to be greased.

Everything you need to know here... http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=50.0

But basically only teflon based drag grease such as Cal's touches my drags ( carbon fiber kind, felt drags gets lightly oiled ). Marine grease is too sticky and will cause jerky drags. For everything else ( gears, metal surfaces, and other moving parts ) any of the greases including teflon based will suffice.
