Hey all question about sonar batteries , so I tested my Eagle cuda 242 make sure it works so now I'm in the process off getting a battery for it , so I know I need a 12 volt but what amps should I get? 3-9? Is there a big difference in weight ? Also where can I find these hardware store I'm assuming?

I'm just looking for something cheap to get it working for Monday and I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on a fancy battery.

If you dont mind the drive I have a 9 or 10amp battery you could have. I normally fish 8hrs when i'm out and they last me all day.

If I can't meet I could always leave it next to my garage.

Ohh and I'll make sure its fully charged before you pickup incase you need it right away but you should pickup a charger for future use. :D

The 9 amp batteries on-line here are about $27
But you definitely need a charger.

If you have a Verizon fios box in the garage it has a nice 8ah sealed 12v battery for backup. I used mine for about a year before I actually bought one (12ah 12v) for my ff.

motorsports or tractor shop will have what you need but may be able to pick one up at a hardware store. Don't buy anything less than 9ah.

You also could use 8 D batteries. As far weight goes it is not much. my new 12ah weighs 2x what the 8ah does, still only est. 15lbs

Would 7 amps suffice for a full day ... Curious ... Work friend may have one

7a/h works. Home depot on Pigeon Pass has them if you need one right away. The ones from the ONLINE STORE (http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/servlet/the-Batteries-and-Battery-Boxes/Categories) are better.

I was just there taking a look at them ... As nice as free is it's a bit of a drive .... I think I may just go with the 7 amp from depot for now I want it ready for Monday.
