Either a GoPro is the new hot new Halibut lure, or Butts don't like to watched when their getting busy!

Thanks Manny...that's a lot of Butts.
Mr. Patrick...I think the red flashing light on the front of the GoPro works great as a "hot new lure".
These Sand Dabs were attracted to it...

Those are Pacific Halibut, and they school regularly. There is lots of video out there of them. They are on my bucket list for kayak fishing in the over 150lb class.

Pacific Halibut. you wont find California Halibut doing that but you can find halibut in California doing that.

a good lure for them is a 10" section of white nylon rope. thread some single strand wire though it and attach a 2/0 treble at either end. add a split ring to one treble and attach a swivel and torpedo weight to that split ring. tie your main line to the swivel and bounce it.

There's lots of halibut around here, and when you find them you can usually find a bunch all in the same area. The trick is finding them :reeling:

Tip: They're at the bottom. If you can find the bottom... you're close.:p

yes. i have found groups here but we do not have giant groups of 25 and up legals that cruise around eating everything in sight like up in Alaska. The biggest group I have ever found down here had three legals that i managed to catch.
