Hello BWE,
I have been part of this forum for almost 2 years now sitting back and watching the conversations and relationships that we have all established! We all share this passion for fishing and being on the water but for me it is more than that! this is a time where I can truly see the beauty of Gods creations and all that he has to offer. I would like to start doing a fellowship on the water devotional day where we as men and women, boys and girls, can come together and do what we love.. FISH! and share the word of God.

This is not meant to start any controversy I would just like to see if there would be anyone else interested in this with me.

Matthew 4:19
and He said to them "follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men"

thank you all for taking the time to read and i am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Let's treat it like a bar.

You're gonna have to let the controversy roll... cuz it's bound to happen in ANY forum with mixed company. Some will receive it well and some will treat it like the plagues. (pun intended) Just let it fly, sit back and watch.

I love to bring religion up at thanksgiving.... My family is a mix of Christians, Apathetic Agnostics, and Hare Krishnas and omg... we have a couple of JW's!! Oh wait... my wife got disfellowshiped so now she's just a lowly worldly christian like me. Her mom doesn't like me much because of it. LOL

There's a reason Why many forums prohibit posting threads Where the subject matter is religion or politics. I'm not for or against What you're trying to accomplish but............

Thank you to all those who express interest. I will PM all to discuss dates and times that we can possibly make permanent.

Would it be the same had everyone expressed condolences and prayers for a loved one or a friend deceased... Don't try to dissect what religion is to you when it can be much bigger to someone else. Just ignore what you don't feel your a part of. I'm sure you don't poke your nose in every conversation at whatever bar you associate yourself with.

Oh wow... I didn't know there WERE forums that actually prohibit "religion and politics" threads... Seems lame to me... but I totally understand WHY they would...

Good thing for now that this is just simply a thread on a gathering of like minded spiritual people to be in fellowship OFF the forum... which is nice. Much different than getting on a saying,"Jesus loves you... discuss amongst yourselves..."

Jesus does love you all though.... But everyone else thinks you're an asshole.

In your face evangelicals are so cute :D

Did someone say Matthew?

Matthew 5:11
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

I'd say that applies.

When dealing with Salvation oriented people I prefer this one.

Matthew 6:34
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Then again for you maybe:

Matthew 7:3-5

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

This bible quote stuff is so fun :cheers1:

Always fun to see a quote from the old testament get pulverized by the new testament.

I should probably throw away all of my cotton blend shirts and stone my ex wife.

My current wife for that matter.

And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling. The Gospel of Matthew is in the New Testament and we both quoted from the same Gospel of Matthew. Hint: there is only one, and the bible says what it says, and you only have to get rid of those shirts if they blend cotton and wool.

LOL... Uh, yes. I do know where I quoted from. Not sure why my schooling has anything to do with what I quoted. I quoted that Matthew scripture to support the original post.

My statement was referring to a Lev scripture being trumped by new testament scripture. But nice try. My post had nothing to do with your latest quotes from the one and only book that says what it says.

Everybody in the loop knows that Jesus gave up fishing in 97 when he found out how much fun white water kayaking was.
Does Jesus need to wear a PFD if he can walk on water?

It's actually kind of a joke. A quote from Firefly a TV series.

Malcom Reynolds (MAL) says that to a character named Lund right before a huge bar fight, and among firefly fans (nerds) it's a phrase used to say essentially: Yes!! it's unavoidable, there's going to be a fight now.

Lund: Hey! You gonna drink to the Alliance with me? Six years ago today, the Alliance sent the Browncoats runnin'.... You know, your coat is kind of a brownish color.

Mal (http://www.planetclaire.org/quotes/firefly/malcolm-reynolds/): It was on sale.

Lund: You didn't toast. You know, I'm thinking you one of them Independents.

Mal (http://www.planetclaire.org/quotes/firefly/malcolm-reynolds/): And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling. So why don't we just ignore each other 'til we go away.
