I hit the water about 8am Sunday for a little spottie action with my buddy Ed. We started off right on the ledge near the bridge. I made quick work of the fish pulling in fish my first and third cast. The tide was nearly slack and the bass were chasing bait, so I threw on an umbrella rig and tore em' up. Every cast it seemed like I was either getting hit or pulling one in. I finally gave the bass a break once I launched my $30 rig a mile away down into the Green Bay waters! About 10:30 I picked up my son from the beach and threw him on the back of the PA. Peddled over to a spot were I knew we won hook up in secs. Dropped his rod down for him and then handed it to him after leaching it off. Within a min or two I heard yelling "it's Heavy, It's heavy!" And is drag was screaming ( I had it set loose). Grabbed the rod to set the hook and tighten the drag. The dumb leash got caught in the bell. It felt like a very nice fish and broke us off. A couple min later I hooked up on my rod in about 8' of water and got a solid hook set and let him reel her in. It was a good day on the water, caught 20+ fish, Ate at Joe's and watched the lil guy have fun.

I have seen some good youtube videos of making your own alabama rigs. I think they are way overpriced for what they are?

I use to fish them regularly on the east coast with surgical tubing over the hooks and it would probably work here too.
