I have recently joined the WSB growth project volunteers in Redondo Beach Sea Lab location.
<O:p</O:pThey need help with maintaining the tanks to grow fish, so it can be released.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I got an email notifying me that the fish will be delivered today, so I went to the site around 1:00 PM.
<O:p</O:pThe truck was late due to traffic, but eventually arrived.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
1-The fish arrived in a trailer and a tank in back of the red pickup.<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
2-The oxygen tank provides oxygen while the tank is in route.<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
3-The fish was pumped through the white PVC pipe.<O:p</O:p

There were several “old timers” there to help out, plus a young man who was there for community work.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
We received 9020 juvenile white sea bass that have been tagged with a very, and I mean small electronic tag.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
As Mr. Murphy never stops working; the battery on my camera went dead, so no picture of the fishing coming out of the pipe.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I will have some more pictures of the fish in the tank, when I go there for my cleaning duties. <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Here are more photos taken by another volunteer.<O:p</O:p

http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq163/balickchi/wsb3.jpg (http://s444.photobucket.com/user/balickchi/media/wsb3.jpg.html)<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The fish could be released in December if everything goes well.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:pMore pictures to come in the feature. <O:p</O:p

Thanks Mahigeer for showing up to help with the delivery of our new WSB babies.
I was at the tanks on Tuesday to cover one of the guys due to a hospital visit. The little WSB looked really healthy...

...the babies seem comfortable in their new digs already, since the fish ate well when the auto feeders went off at 1:30.
It's a pretty simple routine...check the temps., scrub the top edge of the sides, vacuum, and check the food level in the auto feeders.
There are over 9,000 fish in the two tanks...it looks pretty cool!

Good to know they are doing well.

If it is ok with you, I like to post these pictures on another site.

Please let me know.

What do you feed those guys, fish pellets?

alanw...Hubbs supplies us with fish food pellets. The pellets are pretty small at first and as the fish get bigger the food size increases.
Mahigeer... feel free to repost the photos. Especially if it gets more folks interested in the WSB project. Thanks for asking!

Hashem, can you ask about growth rates for WSB when you get around to it? I was curious about what age they are when they reach legal size.
