How to carry the Hobie Pro Angler by yourself

Most people knows the Hobie Pro Angler is beast to deal with and maneuver out of the water. Dry hull is close to 140lbs. So how do you carry such a wide and super lengthy kayak without wheels? Well I saw one eye opener way to carry it the over the shoulder and rear hatch method looks manageable.

I tried this method earlier today and just lift the kayak sideway with a pull tie strap. The bottom side facing you and it was easy to hull around. I couldn't find a good picture of any pro angler bottom view so I drew one up.

Why on earth would you need to carry your PA like that anyway? :confused:

Do yourself a favor buy a set of wheels. If you can afford to buy a PA, you should be able to afford a good set of wheels.

Throwing a buck 40 on your shoulder is just a bad idea, even if you're strong. Like many things, just because you can doesn't mean you should. I suppose in an emergency that would work out though. Rambo, I wonder how old. When I was 20 I would have done that just for fun. I'm 47 now and I could do it, I think, but only if I had to. One bad lift is all it can take some times to really mess up a back, shoulder, or neck. Damn, I'm sounding like a broken down old man. Mike

If you can afford to buy a PA.... You can afford the medical bills...

I side loaded my PA on top of my FJ once... Put it over my head like a snatch and slid it on.... Only did that once.

That's a tough carry right there, and small gusts of wind would make it even tougher. If I had to carry something that big and heavy, I'd probably try standing it up and rigging it to carry on my back, sort of like we do for carrying large heavy doors up stairs. It might be too top heavy when carried that way though.

X2 ...Both pictures are a roll reversal. Why is the object that should be a mode of transportation be the one being carried. Remember it's hard to go Kayak fishing if your laid up with a hurt back muscle.

Plus you're about 8 feet tall right? And 250lbs of man. lol

I'm 31 going to be 32 in july. I got a set of wheel but I'm just sharing a way to carry the PA if you have tight spots you need to lift your kayak. Heavy lifting but it's not that bad after learning a few of these tips.

Did you guys know that you CAN actually perform some surgery at home? All you need is a sharp clean knife, bandages and some vodka to clean the incision site!

You can lift heavy objects if you do it right. But you can also get hurt. Wheels dont go down rocky cliffs.

Yup. Try that after the end of a long paddle on an even moderately breezy day and I guarantee you'll rethink your decision.
