Hoop net advice

I was looking into buying a few nets and cages. I just moved to san diego from colorado. I like to build things and be outside. I want to get into catching lobster as I truly enjoy eating them also truly love kayaking.

I am intimidated by buying new gear as I dont know what I am buying as far as hoop nets or bait cages. I want to know what is a good hoop net, cage and some basics on getting started. Any advice would be appreciated.

Promar rigid hoops have worked very well for me.

set ups vary from the buy here on the site to DIY. Including the drake puck. Worth considering.

I think thre are some seminars coming up that will shorten the learning curve

I'd go with collapsible nets with bait suspenders. Less soaking time = more pulls and less time waisted in unproductive areas. You just have to make sure you are puling straight up, which is what you should be doing anyways.

Collapsible are great for storage but I try to minimize moving parts on the water. Find what you will use with confidence and go with it
