View Full Version : August 5 a Less Good Day to Fish LJ
Just FYI on Sunday 5 August the La Jolla Cove Swim Club will host a 1.5 and 5 mile swim that is essentially around the preserve. The swim can easily have 100 participants and each participant will have a kayak escort while they swim. The swims will start around 7:30 am and go to about 11:30 am. You can imagine what the launch will be like when you combine this activity with the normal Sunday activity. Saturday might be a better choice to fish LJ (that's my plan) if you have that option. Just wanted to let everyone know.

If you get out far enough, those seal decoys won't be much of a problem. They'll be out too late to affect finding bait and probably too close to bother fishing. Not sure how the launch will be though around noon.. May want to make it a short day or load up on bait and make it a long day..

I was going to post a launch warning about this event as it got closer.
It's a kayak assisted 5 mile swim which will be two plus laps around the perserve bouys.
Race starts at 8am and will take most 2-3hours.
If you launch before 7am and land after 11:30 you should miss the clusterfruckass.
My buddy should place in the money and I'll be off to the fishing grounds by 10 am.
