I took a look through the "information" section, but I haven't seen any tips on Fish Cleaning. I thought I might come across some pics, and instruction but can't find any.

Can any of you experienced guys shed some light on the process. I'm a newbie and sure don't want to mangle a good fish.:)

I found this online doing a google search - much easier that describing it myself.:D This shows them filleting a japanese yellowtail which has already been decapitated and gutted. You can fillet it the same way without decapitating or gutting it first if you want, but this will get you by. I personally don't have any pics of "how-to" and a verbal description would probably not be as helpful as this:

In that tutorial they do not show that you should do the same thing to the other side to get your 2nd fillet. Here's how:

I have only caught a couple :yt: , but my recommendations are

1. Ice fish

2. Cut incisions on both sides first, then filet one side at a time

3. All else fails take to a deckhand, like Seibler, they will cut it for 5 American, or 50 pesos....

Glad that helped. Definitely ice the fish down first. It makes the meat alot firmer, which cuts easier & more cleanly from the bone.

Good to hear from you Fro. How's the basura treating you?

If you have the better part of an hour, Adi can give a demo on how to autopsy, dissect, and eventually fillet a fish.lol
