Has anyone been fishing down in Ensenada? I am heading down with my girlfriend for a long weekend and we are staying on the Punta Estero, just south of Ensenada. Never been down there but that area looks fishy. Anyone have any suggestions, should I target butts in the little bay/ estuary , or head offshore for yellowtail? Any advice is appreciated !!

Cheers,

Bernie

Some buddies and I made a trip down to San Miguel this summer just north of Ensenada, had a great time. We only fished from the kayak one day but paddled off the point there in San Miguel and lucked into a yellow on a flylined greenback 100-120ft bout 200yds off the dense kelp by the point.... just get out there, mix it up! looking forward to the report!

Lots of spotties in the estero. Some small halis. Never saw one bigger than a foot there. Also if you fish along pta banda in the 40-60ft range, lots of mixed bass on mixed bottom structure. Also the wreck N of the estero is an interesting spot to fish w bass around a big rusty hulk that waves surge over.

If possible go to Rancho La Bufadora, or if you are in punta estero try to paddle towards the west where the Tuna cage are, you can find some WSB and some YT, and of course a lot sand bass... around 11:00am the winds starts to hit, sometimes could be really bad, just check the weather forecast before you go out.

I think that fishing IN the tuna pen would be the most productive.
