Hi guys,

I receive a spinning Shimano Spheros Sw SP8000 reel brand new as a gift, I would like to know what would be the proper spec rod to use with this reel, i am traveling to Gonzaga on 3 weeks I and would like to use it there, the plan would be to use it for jigging.

thank you guys!

If it was me, and was using for jigging, I'd get. ..

I'd stick with the trevala "f" model. The other ones are like noodle sticks, flimsy as hell. Can't jig with a limp noodle rod

for some reason my big 5 rod that cost 20 dollars has caught more fish than my gloomis rods.

I could be wrong but I've never seen you fish with a G-Loomis rod. What model do own?

GLoomis Pro Blue 20-40 would be a good choice for that reel, but it is pricey. For Gonzaga, you are going to want to fish a heavier rod, or risk losing some serious tackle and trophy fish. Match it to a rod that can handle the 27#s of drag it is capable of.

I think they're less at Charkbait in HB, $99. I didn't check to see if they had spinning model, but I was checking out the conventional model at their shop, and am seriously considering that rod next for a vertical jigging rod. Light weight, but stiff enough for jigging with heavy duty guides, and made with glass too for strength. I dig it.
