Hey all

A few of us are getting together to do some rock fishing. If we get enough folks to go, we may do a jackpot $10.00 buy in heaviest stringer and heaviest fish win. Some will be launching from the CGS or like myself I will be launching from kids beach. Let know if you are interested in joining us.

Jigs only?

Any bait will work live, artificial, frozen. Whatever you want to use.

I'd like to join after I pick up a suitable rig for rockfishing. Can anyone chime in as to what pound test you guys are using? It would help me determine applicable reel and rod. Thanks, Todd

You don't need much for rockfishing. I like to use level wind reels. Its really dependent on how much you want to spend. I was using a cheap Penn Defiance combo I bought at Wally world a few years ago. I think I have an extra Penn combo at home its missing the spool tension control cover. Send me a PM, I will let it go cheap I also live in Orange near Handy Elementary

As far as line goes I have 40 lb braid and on my rigs I used 30lb mono. With braid you don't get the cable stretch you do with mono and you feel the bites a little better.

I was planing on hitting up DP Sat, but may do this instead. Haven't fished for rockfish out of Newps. I mostly roll solo. If someone is trying to widen the fleet, lets do it!

I'd do it if it was Sunday. I'm on-call Saturday so I can't get out and play to far from work
